Renewing

To help you avoid late fees, the library sends email reminder (courtesy) notices. Books and periodicals can be renewed twice unless someone else has placed a HOLD on the item you want to renew. Renewals can be requested:

  • By going to My Library Account (students & staff only)
  • By scanning your ID card at the Self-Check station in the Library
  • By contacting us at the LTC Help Desk at 780.471.8777, library@nait.ca or in person

Returning

Print materials can be returned to the Library or any of  the following book return bins on campus. Material left in the book return bins during the week days are checked into our system and backdated to the previous day. Material returned on weekends are backdated to the last regular working day. Technology loans must be returned in person.

Book Return bin locations:

  • Adjacent to the front (east) door to the Learning Resources Centre building (accessible 24 hours)
  • Adjacent to the ramp in the Learning Resources Centre building
  • South Lobby
  • In the South Learning Centre (across from the Animal Health Office)
  • Second floor of the Tower (adjacent to the elevators)
  • HP Centre (adjacent to entrance of NAITSA Computer Commons W203)
  • CAT Building (inside the entrance to the CAT Computer Commons CAT215)

At other NAIT Campuses, return library items directly to the Office Administrative Support person.

Cape Breton University Students

It is not practical for CBU students in Alberta to have print resources in the CBU Library sent to them. Instead, CBU students can borrow from Alberta academic libraries that participate in CURBA (Canadian University Reciprocal Borrowing Agreement), including the University of Alberta. The only borrowing requirement is a valid CBU student ID card. A NAIT library barcode will be applied to the CBU card. Students can borrow CBU Major Research Essays from Course Reserves at NAIT Library. The late fine  is $1/day. In the event that material is lost or irreparably damaged, the full replacement value, together with a processing fee plus any outstanding fines will be payable to the Library.

If you are living in Alberta and wish to borrow other materials from NAIT, request a free TAL (The Alberta Library) card from your local public library. You can use the TAL card to borrow books at over 300 libraries across Alberta, including NAIT.
