Library updates

The Library's physical  spaces including 24/7 Study Lounge, Makerspace, Library (including collaboration rooms & a/v sound booths) and NAITSA Computer Commons, are currently closed.

Library staff are available by appointment for certain services and  resources. Please review the information below for details.

Returning Books & Technology

Returning books
Books can be returned 24/7 in the book return slot located at the east entrance doors of the Learning Resources Building (J-Parking Lot).

Returning Technology
Contact the library to schedule an appointment to drop off technology. If you need an extension on your loan(s) contact us and we will try to accommodate your request.

Library loans information

Loanable Technology:
  • The Library is continuing to provide technology loans for current students & staff. Please contact us before coming to ensure we have the technology you need. When you arrive at the Library, call us at 780.471.8777 between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm and we will meet you at the east entrance of the Learning Resource building for assistance
  • Check your account on the library webpage to see current due dates.

Print Materials:

  • We encourage you to use eBooks at this time. However, if you do require print material please get in touch us with us to facilitate access. 
  • You are able to put holds on print material at this time. 
  • Course Reserve material is not available to borrow. Please let us know who your instructor is, what course you need the book for, and what portion of the book you require access to, so we can look for alternative access to the title.

Due Dates & Overdue Fines:

  • Check your account on the library webpage to see current due dates.
  • Fines for overdue loans after 15 March 2020 will not be accrued.

Financial Holds:
  • Before 15, March 2020 student accounts with outstanding library fees would have been contacted via email before a financial hold was placed on their account. Students who have a financial hold can pay online and must also contact NAIT to have the hold removed.

Supports & Services - students

Research Support: 
  • Library staff will remain available to assist you with your research & citation questions. Get in touch with your school-specific Subject Librarian to get help by phone, email, or book an appointment.
    Note - if you choose to book an appointment, the appointments will be held virtually and will require internet access to facilitate screen-sharing features. 
  • Getting started with your research? Remember to check out your Program Resource Guide where Library staff have pulled together online collections and resources of particular interest to your program. 
  • The Library has recently designed a set of online, self-paced modules that will teach you research and citation skills. They were designed for the School of Business, but the research principles apply across subject areas, so check them out!

  • Check out some of the documentaries, feature films, and more on Kanopy - an amazing streaming video collection. 

Supports & Services - staff

Teaching support:

  • Looking for content to support online delivery? Check out our streaming video collections for case studies from CBC, documentaries, skills-based videos, Great Courses videos, and more. 
  • ITS and Library Services are working together to help  with your technology needs. Your first step is to contact ITS if you have questions or need to request additional equipment to allow you to work at home. Requests will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. If the technology you need is unavailable through ITS, we may be able to help,  please contact the library - email  
  • Librarians will still be available to support you in finding materials, supporting your students in Moodle, and more. Get in touch with your Librarian to discuss virtual support options for you and your students.
  • The Library has developed a set of online modules that teach research & citation skills. They were developed for business communication students, but can certainly be used more widely. Check them out, and feel free to use them. 

Research support:


The vast majority of our resources are electronic and can be accessed remotely.

  • Use the Library Search Tool as a starting spot for eBooks, streaming videos, online articles, and more. 
  • Check out the Program Resource Guide that has been made for your program. It will have suggestions on the best collections & resources for your subject area.
  • Browse our full list of databases to narrow your searching to specific collections. If you need advice and assistance in your searching contact your Subject Librarian.
  • Most of the curriculum focused photographs and digital learning objects from ePix have moved over to be discoverable from the library.  Browse the new NAIT Digital Library to find these easily downloadable resources. If you can't find what you're looking for, contact for help.


Interlibrary Loans

  • We will continue to process Interlibrary Loan requests for articles however we will not borrow any physical books from other libraries during the COVID shutdown.  

For other libraries looking for ILL services: 

  • We will not lend our physical books but we will fill article/chapter requests that can be accessed through our electronic subscriptions.
  • If you currently have any of our books on loan, we have extended the due dates.  Please hold on to them until we let you know we are ready to receive them.
  • If we have any of your books, we are currently holding on to them and will mail them back when services resume.
